TCL suddenly announced two new BlackBerry models this year, both of which are equipped with a QWERTY physical keyboard.
One of the two new BlackBerry models will be the successor to BlackBerry KeyOne on last year.
The image of the Black Strawberry phone, codenamed “Athena”, has been shared on Slashleaks . This is one of three new BlackBerry models being developed by TCL. The other two devices are “Uni” and “Luna”.
BlackBerry Athena is the successor version of KeyOne and has no official name yet. However, some sources say the device may be referred to as “KeyTwo” or “KeyOne 2”.
BlackBerry Athena looks similar to KeyOne with a black bezel borrowed from KeyOne Black Edition. The edge of the top seems to be thinner so it looks more balanced and easier to see.
The screen of the BlackBerry Athena is designed almost overflowing the sides. The physical QWERTY keyboard is designed with the typical BlackBerry style, looking more modern and neat.
Phone Arena pointed out that the keyboard of the BlackBerry Athena is designed in a rectangular shape than the keyboard of the first KeyOne.
BlackBerry Athena looks more angular with premium aluminum. The left side is the SIM card slot, while the right side focuses the volume button, the power button and the new physical button is not clear function (may be the shortcut for the camera).
Keep up the current flow, the camera can be equipped with dual cameras on the back but unknown using the sensor of any. Anyway, Athena is also the first BlackBerry to use a dual camera.
The back of the machine is plastic coated with anti-slippery texture with the mulberry logo on the top. The bottom edge is USB Type-C and dual-side speakers, while the top edge is a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
In fact, rumors of the BlackBerry Athena have been available since February, which is said to be mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, 6 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.
TCL has not officially announced the BlackBerry Athena configuration. BlackBerry KeyOne launches in April 2017.
