I am one of those who like somewhat darker interfaces , take advantage of the deep blacks of AMOLED panels, then we have bad news for you too. The new lines of Google Material Theme are much cleaner and read able, but also much whiter , and will arrive sooner than later to all Google apps for Android.
Google Contacts , which has already been released in its version 3.0 implementing the new interface based on the second revision of Material . For now, it has only reached devices in the United States, and that is where we have obtained the odd capture of its appearance.
The application has changed little, or nothing, because its functionality remains intact and the same configuration options as before. The changes are purely aesthetic, eliminating the upper blue bar and the striking pink button at the bottom right; Now everything is white and the icons adopt the new design lines of Google, as you will see below in the comparative images:
Old version of Google Contacs
New version of Google Contacts with new Google Material Theme interface
So, we already know the approach of Google to provide greater elegance and integration to all the elements of the interface and its applications, which opt for a totally white layout . Google still calls Material to dry to these new guidelines of design, although all we have always known it as Material Theme and thus we will continue calling it while another denomination is official.
Of course, the developers are not tied to the palettes of totally white colors , because Material Theming exists to create different styles. Even with this, Google shows its way to create a lighter, more natural and readable interface , also key to the interaction in Android 9 Pie .
Contacts of Google 3.0 will arrive soon in the form of an update to your smartphone, at least if you already had the app installed. For now, you can go to Play Store to check what the app offers and download it if you feel like it:
