Dozens of Thai police officers have raided and arrested Sergey Medvedev, the online fraud tycoon who runs the Infraud website, a form of eBay for cyber criminals.
Sergey Medvedev, 31, is co-founder of Infraud. This site specializes in stealing information, credit card fraud, stolen credit card information, and many other underground activities.
By 2015, Sergey Medvedev became the top administrator of Infraud when the remaining founder, Svyatoslav Bondarenko, suddenly disappeared for no reason.
Infraud take slogan ” Print fraud We Trust ” ( We believe Dishonesty ) to parody target the expression ” In God We Trust ” ( We believe in God ) printed in US dollars.
Last week, the Justice Department confirmed Medvedev was arrested without providing any further information. Meanwhile, AP , Agence France and others reported that Medvedev was arrested in Thailand on February 2.
Accordingly, police seized 29 electronic devices at Medvedev’s Bangkok apartment along with Infraud’s servers.
The Bangkok Post quoted an unnamed source as saying that more than 100,000 bits of assets were seized, valued at $ 840 million.
According to sources from the Thai police, Medvedev has been in the country for the past six years with VISA travel. The arrest was made at the request of the US side.
Medvedev did not say anything during the arrest. The suspect is being held at the Bangkok jail during extradition to the United States.
The Justice Department said Medvedev was just one of 13 suspected Infraud suspects. The United States has prosecuted a credit card fraud case with a total of 36 suspects.
